From Jesuit Leadership to Jesuit "Tech"

JLS 2018 alumni Ally Spencer from Fordham (4th from left) and Opinder Bawa from USF (3rd from right) at the AJCU Confierence on IT Management

Participants in the Jesuit Leadership Seminar come from a range of positions, areas of university life and expertise. The perspectives that they share with each other - their colleagues from across the country's 28 Jesuit colleges and universities and several international peers - open new doors and build fruitful relationships for cooperation.

A growing aspect of university life and our Jesuit network is IT on campus, and the Seminar has been fortunate to have senior IT officers as participants in recent years. Last week, several members of the AJCU Conference on IT Management (CITM) met in Orlando during the 2018 Gartner's Symposium for IT leaders. Re-connecting after their 2018 Jesuit Leadership Seminar experience in June were Ally Spencer and Opinder Bawa. Ally serves as the Director of the IT Project Management Office at Fordham University and Opinder serves as the Chief Information Officer at the University of San Francisco.

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) sponsors over 30 conferences, which are affinity groups within the AJCU Network. The conferences provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and best practices; support the professional development of their members; and present opportunities for AJCU representatives to discuss issues and challenges in Jesuit higher education. Most of the AJCU conferences host meetings at least once a year, and many of them facilitate regular communication among members through AJCU listservs.
